Myofascial Trigger Point Dry Needling - A Diagnostic and Treatment Modality for the Chiropractic Practice,  Myofascial trigger point dry needling (MFTrPDN) as a treatment to restore proper function to abnormally behaving muscles. Treatment of painful with nodules and tight bands of tissue that can be painful locally or send pain signals to nonadjacent locations. The abnormally functioning muscle causes restriction of movement and chronic pain. These painful areas contain biochemicals that cause pain to the local nerves, have decreased oxygen flow (ischemia) causing further pain resulting in muscle fibers to “lock”. The MFTrPDN short-circuits the cycle in a very direct way that other methods cannot accomplish. Alloeing muscle contracture to release, circulation to improve, swelling to recede and chemicals to disperse, thereby removing their noxious effect on local nerves.
